So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. — Mark 16: 19
Bible reading: Acts 1: 4–12
Jesus Christ ascended into heaven. From there He will come again in order to take His own unto Himself. The New Testament does not describe the ascension of Christ in great detail. It merely states that He was lifted up into heaven (Acts 1: 9). Luke merely relates that Jesus parted from them and was carried up into heaven (Luke 24: 51). Precisely how this occurred is not explained, but it must have been a splendid moment, a wonderful closing event before the Son of God returned to the Father.
Jesus Christ performed miracles, resurrected from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God.
- The important thing is not how the ascension of Christ occurred, but rather that it occurred.
- Christ’s ascension demonstrates that the Lord stands sovereign over all earthly realities. Let us likewise acquire a certain degree of superior ease and self-assurance over the earthly.
- He will come again just as He has ascended into heaven.
- We will experience our own ascension when we are caught up to God.
